“My art explores the alchemy of emotion—energy in motion. I’m drawn to what lies beneath: personal insights, ancestral threads, and contemplations on life’s layered mysteries. Through mixed media, I use expressive lines, bold colours, and gold to reveal messages that want to emerge.” Anika Qureshi
"Ka" is the creative energy that flows through the body. The spiritual life force inside that unfolds desires, expands our connection to the higher self, and the ability to create our reality. This ‘Ka’ energy expands by way of love, a pulse of aliveness, emerging from nature.
Facing our shadow is what opens the path forward. It’s exactly the direction we have to go to evolve and change our experience.
This is about that moment of searching, falling into and facing the shadow... What is the gift in the pain? This is also the pathway to our greatest joy, and ultimately to the expression of our individual and spiritual gifts.
A Pakistani truck tile pattern motif - though this version is in contrast to the traditional brightly coloured ones. Instead choosing black ink overtop a faded pattern. The decorative is inlaid with a multitude of universal symbolism, veiled identities, pointing to secrets of this space waiting to be uncovered.
A flow of energy between two people = always in motion.
Feelings move and can take on other perspectives. The yin and yang move into and are part of eachother.
Personal emotional states are also universal when we step back. Telling a story of cycles and discovering a way through. Everything in this piece revolves around, “There is a universe inside me”. The layers around are, what I deem to be, mirrored opposites, polarized thoughts. Polarization brings many emotions, and levels of vibration. It is part of the journey to have ebs and to know flows. This propels change.
Bottom and left:
Feelings of sickness, frustration, anger, despair, confusion, hard to see the light, wiggling in your stomach, knowing there is something else.
Top and right:
The way through takes going inside, facing yourself, accepting, seeing other perspectives, loving each step and yourself deeply. Realizing that you are not mixed up in it all, you are the observer engaging in the process. Perfectly imperfect.
Twenty-five frames make up this piece. The spiritual significance of this number is relevant. It means; change is good; embrace it. It may not be easy when opening up to a new sense of self. This number relates to intuition, self-awareness, introspection, wisdom, and cycles. Building resilience.
A force from inside. We choose the direction our energy flows, no matter what circumstance is in front of us. Our world is affected by our actions, intensity, and intention. Life is so many crazy things to experience, so many perspectives. This piece tells a story of energy and our ability to choose. Our energy effect's our environment. A totem of sorts, guiding principles.
Pandora's box "..refers to a source of endless complications or trouble arising from a single, simple miscalculation. A process that generates many complicated problems as the result of unwise interference with something.” This is slightly different... Here we have unleashed a googely eyed monster brain. Maybe nothing to be afraid of?
Elixirs are meant to be healing aids for common cures. Each bottle is hand-painted and gives suggestions for their use and dosage. The bottles sit on a mirrored tray, highlighting self-reflection and so-above-so below. All items sit on a pedestal table and carpet, similar to one your grandmother might have had. Old world, classics.
